Nothing says a great day out in the Free State like a classic braai!
We offer excellent braai facilities on-site for our visitors to enjoy. Please note that our braai areas are located in different designated spots around the grounds to give everyone their own space to relax.
Day Visitors: Our general braai spots are open for public use on a first-come, first-served basis (facilities are shared and not exclusive).
Overnight Guests: If you are staying with us, please note that ALL Rooms feature their own braai facilities close by

We invite you to unwind in our designated picnic areas after exploring the grounds. It is the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Free State landscape.
Please note: To keep our rescued residents safe and healthy, feeding any wildlife or birds in the picnic area is strictly prohibited. All food must remain within the designated picnic zones.

Looking for the perfect venue for your year-end event, corporate function, or large group gathering? Combine the beauty of our wildlife rescue with a fantastic culinary experience. We offer a range of outdoor catering options designed to make your event a resounding success.
Below is our comprehensive function menu. For all options, please note that one menu choice must be selected for the entire group.
Your Function Catering Options
Option 1: The Signature Spitbraai A South African classic! Enjoy slow-roasted lamb or pork, accompanied by your choice of two sides from our delicious selection. (Minimum numbers apply).
Option 2: The Braai Pack For groups who love a traditional "bring and braai" atmosphere, but we do the hard work. Our Braai Pack includes a selection of Steak, Boerewors, and Sosaties, paired with your choice of sides. We also offer a "Chef Assist" option if you'd like us to do the grilling.
Option 3: Sit-Down Lunch For a more formal dining experience, choose from a classic Steak & Chips or a hearty Chicken or Beef Lasagna, both served with a fresh salad.
Important Booking Information
Pricing & Groups: Per-person pricing varies based on your group size (20+ guests or 10-19 guests) and whether you choose the "Self Braai" or "Chef Assist" option. Please refer to the menu for the specific cost per person (pp).
Venue Entrance: Please note that menu prices exclude the Zanchieta entrance fee.
